Maverick, genius or complete lunatic, the brilliantly eccentric Julien “Julz” Dupont is a true one-off who has done for motorbikes what parkour has done for jogging. Julien applies the parkour philosophy that there's no obstacle – physical or mental – that can't be overcome by his motorbike riding.

Julien left school at 16, instead opting to be educated in the ‘school of life’, and followed his driving ambition to innovate, experiment and break down boundaries. In 1995 he went pro, taking part in world, European and French trials championships until 2000.

In 2004, the Lyon-born athlete decided it was time to set some records, first landing the first-ever backflip on a motorbike, and a year later following it up with completing the first 360° on European soil. Broadcast coverage quickly ensued, with FOX Racing capturing Julz in action as part of their Throttle DVD, followed closely by the release of his first film, Out of Section.

His mantra is “freeride everywhere” and it seems there this is nothing this man will not try and ride on his bike. He explains: “I began motorcycling thanks to my father, who used to take me with him on his own motorbike in a special backpack when I was six months old… this experience traumatised me!” These days Dupont is splitting his time between training and shooting exciting new video projects.
